Artist's Description
This is where fresh water meets salt water and they mingle, at the mouth of the Russian River and Jenner by the sea. Taken from above, on Highway One.
The Harbor seals come here to rest and recoup their energy stores as they have their young by their sides. These are seals that do not bark and are also the most quiet of the pinnipeds. They can live 25-30 years, but do not like human disturbance and will abandon resting or birthing grounds if they feel threatened whatsoever. Unlike most seals, the Harbor seal can swim immediately at birth. I have seen them occasionally bobbing along with their eyes closed in a vertical position in the water, usually in a quiet place near a pier or at the side of a coastal restaurant. This is called "bottling" as they catch some sleep. The mothers are very attentive and doting of their babes.

It was released. My parents could not figure out what to do with such a weird fish.

How funny...but makes sense. :)

Fantastic, Robert! This is a special place, although I have not fished here before. Did you catch and release or have a good meal?

This is the spot where I first visited the ocean when I was a kid. I caught a large flounder here.
